Human colds are generally not contagious to dogs. Dog colds and human colds are two different types of colds.
After a person catches a cold, it is generally spread from person to person. Bacterial infections generally do not spread. Only viral colds are contagious. Even if you have the flu, these viruses that work in the human body may not be able to pass on to the dog. body will work.
There are still many common diseases between humans and dogs, such as skin diseases or ringworm, etc. It is very important to bathe dogs regularly and vaccinate dogs regularly.
Although colds are not contagious to dogs, you must pay attention to these zoonotic diseases:
Zoonoses I: Rabies
It is a zoonotic disease caused by rabies virus, especially an acute contact infectious disease that pet animals are susceptible to. The disease is mainly infected by the bites of mad dogs, cats and sick domestic animals. This disease can take place in all seasons, but it is more common in spring, summer and winter. The incubation period of the disease varies in length, the shortest is about 12 days, and the longest is one year. Because the disease damages the nervous system, all kinds of sick animals show excitement and rage; sick dogs show panic at the beginning of the disease, fear of stimulation, look at the sky and bark, turn against the owner or get very close, lick people and foreign objects, and then turn to the dog. Going into a frenzy, wandering around, calling hoarsely, and staggering, the later stage is manifested as high spirits, body paralysis, and generally dies 3-6 days after the onset. When cats are sick, they will also attack people when they are provoked, scratching and biting people and infecting the disease. Most of the animals suffering from the disease died, and very few showed chronic metastasis.
Zoonoses II: Trichinella spiralis
Trichinella spiralis is a parasitic disease easily caused by humans and carnivores. Humans, dogs, pigs and cats are all highly susceptible. Patients become infected with cysticercosis from eating pork or dog meat that contains the worm, or from exposure to fresh feces that contain the worm. A person susceptible to the disease can die by swallowing five live worms per kilogram of body weight. The main symptoms of the disease are fever, listlessness, early vomiting and diarrhea, cyst parasitic muscle soreness, difficulty walking, difficulty chewing, swallowing and breathing difficulties, swelling of the face and eyes, loss of appetite, and finally death.
Zoonoses III: Toxoplasmosis
Cats are hosts of Toxoplasma, and sexual reproduction occurs in cats. Cats usually get it from eating raw meat or prey that contains trophozoites. Once a patient is scratched by a cat or infected by other means, some may suffer from fatigue, fever and headache, and most of the obvious clinical symptoms only show enlarged lymph nodes.
Zoonoses IV: Leptospirosis
Almost all mammals can be infected with leptospirosis. Dogs and rabbits are hosts for Leptospira. Leptospira can occur when humans come into contact with animal urine, blood tissue, or the environment. The incubation period is about 10 days, followed by sepsis, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, fever, jaundice, and hematuria.
Zoonoses V: Scabies
Caused by dermatophytes, the epidermis of dogs and cats is susceptible to infection. Infection to humans can cause ringworm or ringworm.
