Pharyngeal paralysis symptoms in dogs:

Pharyngeal paralysis is the inability of the pharynx to swallow. The sick dog showed a sudden loss of swallowing ability, food, drinking water and saliva flowed out of the mouth and nose, no swelling and pain response in the pharynx examination, and the swallowing reflex disappeared. Sick dogs often die of aspiration pneumonia due to swallowing, or die of exhaustion due to long-term inability to eat and drink. Central pharyngeal paralysis is mostly caused by encephalopathy, and can also be seen in rabies and botulism. Peripheral pharyngeal paralysis is rare and is caused by damage to the swallowing nerve.

Treatment for pharyngeal paralysis in dogs:

1. There is no good treatment for central pharyngeal paralysis.

2. If there is peripheral nerve damage or inflammation, electroacupuncture therapy can be applied to improve the local peripheral nerve excitement state, and there is a certain possibility of treatment.

3. No matter what kind of pharyngeal paralysis, the dog can only maintain life by giving food and drinking water through a gastric tube.
