How to choose husky standards, the appearance characteristics of purebred huskies

Criteria for choosing a husky:

1. Height and weight. Huskies are medium-sized dogs, with a height standard of 51-60 cm, a male dog’s weight standard of 20-27 kg, and a female dog’s weight standard of 16-23 kg. At the same time, the height is slightly shorter than the body length.

2. Head and facial features. Purebred huskies require a moderately sized head with a slightly rounded top and gradually flattens at the widest point toward the eyes. A pair of almond-shaped eyes, moderately set, slightly oblique, brown, blue and one brown and one blue are acceptable in color. The ears are triangular in shape, of moderate size, erect on the top of the head, with obtuse angles at the tips. The muzzle is of moderate width, tapering gradually towards the nose. Nose color can be black, flesh color, liver color, snow nose is also acceptable.

3. Temperament. Adult huskies are friendly, docile, alert, enthusiastic and intelligent. But obedience is low, do not like to be controlled.

4. Coat color. The purebred husky has a double coat, of medium length, with a straight, smooth upper coat, not matted or fluffy, and a soft, dense undercoat, not harsh. The coat color is from black to pure white, from brown to red, etc. All colors are acceptable, and different color spots are allowed on the head.

5. Action gait. The gait is light and smooth when walking or running, which is necessary for a purebred Husky. When running, their back line should remain firm and level. As they run faster, their limbs gradually move inward.
