Dog Shock First Aid Measures

1. Keep the dog in a sitting position, soothe the dog's emotions, keep the dog quiet, and avoid its aggravation of dyspnea.

2. If the trachea is blocked by a foreign object, the foreign object should be removed in time to keep the airway unobstructed.

3. Appropriately give phlegm-reducing and antispasmodic drugs to keep the airway unobstructed.

4. If the dog has severe dyspnea, it should be sent to the hospital for treatment immediately.

5. If there is bleeding, before taking other measures, do a pressure bandage first.

6. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and compression first aid. In larger dogs, the compressions are placed over the widest part of the dog's chest (near the heart), but not directly over the heart.

7. Seek medical attention immediately.

Causes of shock in dogs

1. Hypovolemic shock is often caused by capillary constriction, dilation or ischemia and congestion caused by trauma, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., resulting in shock due to the loss of a large amount of blood or body fluid.

2. Septic shock is caused by viral and bacterial infections.

3. Anaphylactic shock, it can be seen from the literal meaning that it is the shock caused by the dog's allergy to certain substances. Note that anaphylactic shock may lead to the immediate death of the dog, which is very dangerous.

4. Cardiogenic shock is related to cardiovascular disease, often caused by acute myocardial infarction, severe arrhythmia, acute heart failure and acute myocarditis.

5. Nervous shock and traumatic shock, the former is caused by severe pain, spinal anesthesia accidents, etc., while the latter is often caused by fractures, severe lacerations, crush injuries, burns, etc.
