Caring for a Dog's Production

1. Nutritional Management

About a week after mating, signs of pregnancy may appear in the dog. During pregnancy, the dog may experience symptoms such as vomiting and loss of appetite from three to four weeks. Adequate nutritional management is essential for the pet's health, and the diet must be formulated to ensure the basic physiological needs of the animal, such as energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.

2. Pre-pregnancy Preparation

During pregnancy, it is important to actively carry out prenatal checks and establish a good relationship with the animal hospital. In case of any emergencies, the hospital can be contacted promptly. In addition, an X-ray can be taken about ten days before delivery to check for abnormal fetal positions or deformities. If these conditions exist, it is best to go to a hospital for delivery.

3. Preparation of the Production Environment

Maintain a clean, spacious, and warm production environment. The mother dog will usually urinate frequently, dry heave, walk back and forth, unable to stop, lose appetite, scratch the nest, and so on in the few hours before delivery. Extra attention is needed at this time.

4. No Baths

Bathing after delivery can easily cause colds in the mother dog, whose immune system is still relatively low, and it can also lead to wound infections. Therefore, it is important to avoid bathing the mother dog within 30 days after delivery.

5. Regular Deworming

After giving birth, the mother dog comes into contact with the puppies a lot during breastfeeding. Therefore, if regular deworming is not done, it is easy to cause mutual infections. Therefore, special attention should be paid to regular deworming of the mother dog, and dog bedding and other daily necessities should be changed and exposed to sunlight frequently to maintain a clean and tidy environment.
